When I was growing up, no one had heard of my name. On the first day of school, the teacher would usually stumble over it. Alex? Alexis?
Now when my name comes up, people either stifle a laugh or their stereo turns on. My close friends still act like it’s a non-issue, which is really kind.
The truth is, I’ve been kind of ignoring the Amazon Alexa. I don’t have one in my home and don’t intend to (there’s only one Alexa in my house!). But as Alexa’s activities in healthcare get both more amazing and exciting, while at the same time the propensity for darkness only seems to increase, it is worth taking a pause to ask:
Who is Alexa, really?
To be honest, I’ve been asking myself that question a lot these days.
Luckily, I am at long last on the other side of a solid mid-life crisis, so I can joyfully report I have some answers that question. Also, it turns out a basic comparison to Amazon’s Alexa is a great little exercise in business clarity and strategy! I write today to share the pearls of wisdom this has yielded.
Who do you think Alexa is, really? What have I left out?
And while we’re at it, who is the real you? You need not be named Alexa to face this question. What is your business up to? How does this all align with Amazon’s Alexa? If you were to make your own table, what features are most important to you?
These are big questions folks. We all must decide for ourselves.
